Whenever we see a movie or a TV show you will always find tools in the background or taking the spotlight front and center. We are going to go over the different tools that we see from movies, what they actually do in the real world, and how they are portrayed in the films we love. You'll find that this is a fairly short list, but it focused on a specific topic that is often overlooked when we watch movies.
Giant Wrenches
In most Sci-fi or fantasy films we will see the introduction of a character wielding a giant wrench of some kind. This is to yell at the audience, “I FIX THINGS!” without having to actually yell it. The interesting thing is that using a large wrench like that is rather odd when they work in an automotive garage, that doesn't service large, industrial vehicles as that wrench was built to work on heavy machinery. Using a four foot tall wrench to take out a battery could result in some body damage we think.
Blow Torches
Blow torches can be found anywhere in film since they are universally used in both the present and the future. If Horror has taught us anything it's that anyone can operate a blow torch if given enough pressure, like dying or only the bad guy can use one at the beginning of the film because it feeds off of their evil. This couldn't be further from the truth because operating a blow torch can be rather hard and dangerous if done wrong. If you're ever being chased down by a monster, do not just turn on a tank of gas and light the end of the tube coming out of it; you will disagree with the result.
Hammers
They are everywhere! Everything can be more terrifying or heroic when you add a hammer to the mix. Since the whole point of a hammer is to hit things it pretty much is the closest films get to using a tool correctly.
